Absent AEW Wrestler Shares Significant Update

AEW’s women’s division is considered one of the best ever assembled, featuring a diverse range of female talents from all over the world. However, one of the most impressive is former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida, who has been absent from the promotion since November of last year due to visa issues preventing her from working in the US.

However, while discussing the recent Japanese play in which she starred, she confirmed that wrestling remains her focus, and that, in addition to sorting out her visa issues, she has also committed her future to AEW, having signed a new contract.

“I just renewed my Visa and contract, so I’m not retiring. But fans asked me, so that means my acting was too good.”Hikaru Shida

37-year-old Shida has been signed to AEW since the early days of the promotion and subsequently held their top title three times, winning it once in 2020 and twice in 2023. And while she hasn’t been able to compete for the company this year, she has remained busy competing for multiple small Japanese promotions, suggesting there’ll be no ring rust to worry about when she resumes her AEW career.
