In a recent appearance on The Battleground Podcast, Tony Khan addressed the prolonged absence of his former Women’s World Champion, Britt Baker, who hasn’t wrestled on AEW television since 2024. In this, Khan called her “very highly regarded and respected” within the company and offered hope to those who want to see her return, saying, “I would expect to see Britt back in AEW.“
“Britt’s still somebody very highly regarded and respected here in AEW,” he continued. “So I would expect to see Britt back in AEW. I just don’t want to say when.” – Tony Khan
34-year-old Baker was AEW’s first women’s signee and soon became a cornerstone of the promotion with her heel dentist persona and cutting promos. However, despite winning the AEW Women’s World Championship at Double or Nothing 2021 and holding it for 290 days, injuries and a reported backstage altercation with MJF hindered her push. Therefore, when AEW signed Mercedes Moné and Toni Storm reinvented herself, she seemingly no longer became one of the first names on Khan’s booking sheet.
