Part of the wrestling business is wrestlers switching promotions, and thanks to Tony Khan launching AEW, talents can now demand more money as free agents than ever before. And now, in news that could upset long-time AEW fans, Fightful Select has reported that Anna Jay’s contract is set to expire in the next few months. Whether her career goal is to join WWE isn’t known, but according to the report, AEW management is expected to try to get her to sign a contract extension.
27-year-old Anna Jay, real name Anna Jernigan, broke into the business in 2019 after training at QT Marshall’s wrestling school. Subsequently, she signed with All Elite Wrestling and was soon part of the Dark Order, helping her become a prominent fixture on AEW programming. From there, she joined the Jericho Appreciation Society and, most recently, has been part of the popular TayJay tag team with Tay Melo. However, the duo has already been eliminated from the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament at the quarter-final stage, suggesting that pushing the pair isn’t a priority at the moment.
