Harley Cameron is one of AEW’s most popular homegrown stars, and a highlight of every show she appears on. And now, during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, the Australian has revealed she had initial talks with WWE, who helped her obtain her green card and get trained. Still, AEW ultimately offered her a contract, which she says is “where I was meant to be.“
And in the interim of not knowing what was going on, I had an opportunity to be at AEW Dark. And then I had another opportunity there. And then I was offered, you know, the contract with AEW, and after, you know, being in this country for so long and knowing that I want to be a professional wrestler, and this door opened for me, I went to AEW, and I’m so glad I did because I feel like it’s where I was meant to be.”Harley Cameron
31-year-old Cameron, real name Danielle Glanville, moved from Australia with her now ex-husband, Xyon Quinn, and, while initially looking to model, decided to pursue pro wrestling herself in 2022. From there, she would join AEW in 2023. And while her time with QTV and The Outcasts failed to connect with fans, once she was tuned babyface and allowed to showcase her quirky personality, she became a big hit. This has since led to her earning a run with the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships alongside Willow Nightingale, showcasing her vastly improved ring skills.
