Despite @WWEShop spoiling AJ Lee’s return by confirming in a tweet that new merchandise was coming, the pop for her return at the conclusion of this week’s SmackDown was nevertheless epic. And now, among the dozens of wrestlers taking to social media to acknowledge this, her longtime rival Saraya’s has stood out, tweeting, “f*ck, my heart is so full.”
For those unaware, Saraya and Lee’s careers are forever linked, as the British star won the Divas Championship against Lee on her main roster debut. Subsequently, they faced each other and teamed together multiple times, including a memorable match against The Bella Twins at WrestleMania 31.
When Lee’s husband, CM Punk, first returned to wrestling in 2021, fans immediately began speculating that it could lead to her comeback. Over the years, both would regularly be asked about this possibility, and Punk notably said during an interview with Ariel Helwani, “Probably not,” due to her having suffered damaged vertebrae while wrestling. Still, Lee would later reveal that her body had physically healed enough to compete again, but at the time, she didn’t think the challenge was there.
