After retiring from the ring last year, former TNA Knockouts Champion Ash by Elegance has resumed her wrestling career, having recently been medically cleared. And now, in a new interview with Denise Salcedo, she avoided giving details but described the decision as deeply personal. Still, she also revealed that in addition to general online negativity, she actually received death threats following her announcement, suggesting some wrestling fans take the business far too seriously.
“To be honest with you, it’s personal, and when I feel like I’m ready to share, I will share. I’ve always been transparent about my whole life but this is something that was very personal to me. It did result in retiring or vacating the title, and I just feel as though people like to butt into business where it may not be their business … It’s been difficult, I must say, reading comments online. Majority has been super supportive, which I appreciate but, on the other side, people have been very negative. I have gotten, unfortunately, death threats, and it’s scary at times because people don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.” – Ash By Elegance
37-year-old Ash, real name Ashley Mae Sebera, previously known as Dana Brooke in WWE, is a former bodybuilder, gymnast, and fitness competitor. Signing with WWE in 2013, she debuted in NXT in 2014 and later moved to the main roster, where she became a 15-time WWE 24/7 Champion during her decade-long tenure. After her WWE release, she joined TNA in 2024, rebranding as Ash by Elegance, and quickly captured the TNA Knockouts World Championship and the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship.
