Athena is considered one of AEW’s most talented female performers and is pushed as one of the faces of its sister promotion, ROH. And now, having recently participated in high-profile matches at both Forbidden Door and Death Before Dishonor, Fightful Select has reported she is set to take 5 to 6 weeks off. Whether this was to give her a break or she needs time to heal from an injury is unknown, but it appears she’ll be back well before Final Battle, which is scheduled for December 5.
37-year-old Athena had a six-year run in WWE as Ember Moon, during which she won the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Shotzi Blackheart. Yet despite her obvious talent and popularity, the company would release her in November 2021 due to budgetary cuts. Still considering her talent, it was always assumed she’d eventually sign with AEW, and thus, a few were shocked when she debuted at Double or Nothing in 2022.
