Last week, WWE held its latest set of tryouts at the Performance Center in an attempt to find the stars of the future, with names like Valentina Rossi, Miranda Alize, Notorious Mimi, and Nikki Blackheart in attendance. And now it has been noted that Marie Malenko, the daughter of legendary technician Dean Malenko, was also a participant in Orlando. The third-generation wrestler actually only just made her in-ring debut last month for NOAH in Japan, but clearly has the family background to be a top talent despite her inexperience.
The Malenko family represents a multi-generational legacy of technical excellence in professional wrestling. Patriarch Boris Malenko, whose real name is Lawrence Simon, was a respected worker and trainer who opened a Florida school after retiring in 1979. His sons, Joe and Dean Malenko, carried the family tradition forward, with Joe competing internationally in promotions such as All Japan Pro Wrestling, while Dean achieved stardom in ECW, WCW, and WWE, and now works as an AEW producer. Therefore, given her father’s current connection to AEW, it was thought that Marie might find a home there once she spent more time on the indies.
