During this week’s episode of SmackDown, Saraya would take to social media to acknowledge a fan in attendance who was holding a sign saying “Paige Come Home.” However, it appears that having brought it to everyone’s attention, WWE confiscated the sign, as the fan responsible has since disclosed on X that security took it off him. Why WWE wouldn’t want the sign on television is unclear, although it has previously been reported that the company has no interest in rehiring the former AEW star.
33-year-old Saraya worked for WWE under the name Paige between 2011 and 2022, although she was forced to retire from in-ring competition in 2017 due to a neck injury. Still, it’s understood that despite being sidelined, she attempted to get medically cleared to return to the ring several times, but WWE doctors kept refusing. Therefore, many fans were shocked when she signed with AEW and announced that she would be stepping into the ring as a competitor. This can only mean that WWE’s doctors had either been excessively cautious or Saraya’s neck had miraculously recovered.
