Former AEW Wrestler Suffers Yet Another Career Setback

Sadie Gibbs was released by AEW in 2020 due to travel restrictions preventing the British wrestler from entering the US. Subsequently, she announced her retirement from the business, and it seemed her future would be as a fitness model and coach. Still, she returned to the ring in 2024 and had been attempting to rebuild her career until she suffered a serious knee injury while jumping down from the corner during a Sendai Girls show back in August.

And now, in more disappointing news for the 33-year-old, she has disclosed on X that there is a year-long wait for her surgery, suggesting it could be well into 2027 or even 2028 until she can wrestle again.

While Gibbs had a short wrestling career, she still managed to pack 50 matches into her initial run from 2017 to 2019. During this time, in addition to AEW, she worked for Stardom, Pro Wrestling EVE, and WrestleGate Pro, sharing the ring with names like Jamie Hayter, Bea Priestley, Mayu Iwatani, Gisele Shaw, and even Joey Janela. And while her return didn’t see her wrestle names as big as those, Gibbs likely hoped for another chance to work for AEW or an opportunity to try out for WWE.
