If you’ve been on X in recent days, you’ve almost certainly seen Gail Kim arguing with the AEW “sickos,” having shared the fact that she isn’t a fan of Japanese wrestler Riho due to her size and presentation. And while Dave Meltzer previously described Kim as “so ahead of her time” due to her elevating the women’s in-ring product in WWE and TNA, he has also condemned her comments for being out of touch.
One of the main accusations being leveled at Kim is that she is angry that AEW hasn’t hired her following her shock TNA firing earlier this year. However, the former WWE Women’s Champion has now revealed on X that Sonjay Dutt, who serves as Vice President of Production and Creative Coordination for the company, actually reached out to her by text about wrestling for AEW, but she wasn’t interested due to being retired from the ring.
Following Kim TNA’s departure, it was reported that she didn’t get along with TNA Executive Producer Ariel Shnerer, who also departed the company, with it claimed that instead of choosing one over the other, TNA President Carlos Silva fired both. Yet that has since been disputed, and all that’s really known is that the TNA Hall of Famer intends to remain involved in the business, having stated on Instagram, “This is not the end of Gail Kim in the wrestling world.”
