In a groundbreaking announcement, Netflix, the home of Raw in the United States, has confirmed its first-ever live MMA event, headlined by the long-awaited dream matchup between pioneers Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. The clash is set for May 16, 2026, at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome, featuring five five-minute rounds and is being promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. Both fighters are coming out of retirement, with Rousey (12-2) stepping away from MMA in 2016, while Carano (7-1) did so in 2009.
After retiring from MMA in 2016, Rousey joined WWE in 2018 and went on to win the Raw Women’s Championship and main-event WrestleMania 35, the first women’s main event in history. During a second run, Rousey captured the Women’s Royal Rumble, held the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice, and won Women’s Tag Team Titles with Shayna Baszler. However, she left WWE in 2023, and since then, the 39-year-old has focused on her family and other pursuits.
