Nixon Newell, known as Tegan Nox in WWE, has addressed her brief AEW stint and departure in a recent interview on The Wrestling Classic podcast. After debuting with Miranda Alize on Collision in October 2025, the real-life couple opted out of wrestling a second match the following week due to mismatched expectations surrounding how much time they would be given. Subsequently, they were heavily criticized for mishandling such a big opportunity, but Newell has now claimed, “there were no negative feelings on either side” and that “it wasn’t meant to be.”
31-year-old Newell began her career in independent promotions like Attack! Pro Wrestling, Progress, and SHIMMER, going on to sign with WWE in 2017. Subsequently, she debuted in NXT as Tegan Nox and formed the popular tag team with Dakota Kai, both of whom looked set for big things. However, she was plagued by knee injuries, and while she made it to the main roster, she was eventually released in 2022. A return to the company would follow a year later, but after failing to impress in a high-profile match against Becky Lynch, she was put in a tag team with Natalya before being released a second time.
