Former WWE talent Nixon Newell and ROH’s Miranda Alize grabbed headlines this past weekend after it was reported that the real-life couple walked out of Saturday night’s Collision taping after being told they were booked to put over Anna Jay and Tay Conti in just three minutes. Subsequently, the pair would be heavily criticized online, with fans accusing them of not being professional or appreciative of the opportunity.
However, after Nixon tweeted “Not everything you read is true,” she has now opened up about the situation during a Twitch stream. In this, she stated, “It wasn’t a ‘f*ck you, we’re leaving,” and someone from AEW texted them to say it was “All good,” indicating they remain on good terms with the company.
It wasn’t a ‘f*ck you, we’re leaving at all.’ Except we called our producer over. We said everything, and we spoke to a lot of people about this. And they were all in agreement of, like, hey, three minutes is not going to do good for anyone … They texted us, they said, ‘all good. No problem. You guys are free to go if you like.'”Nixon Newell
30-year-old Newell had two unsuccessful runs in WWE as Tegan Nox and previously revealed that she was struggling to secure indie bookings. Therefore, it was assumed that having been given an opportunity in AEW, she would willingly go along with anything the promotion wanted. Still, during the same Twitch stream, she stated she only had a year left in the ring and was therefore wanting to “have fun this last year.”
