Saraya Makes Startling Disclosure During Recent Podcast Interview

During a recent appearance on Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Saraya discussed her AEW tenure, disclosing that she was dissatisfied with her character and wished for different matches that never materialized. This led shockingly led her to fall out of love with wrestling. Still, despite her creative frustrations, she views her AEW positively and now plans a more substantial return to the ring after she gets her “ass back into shape.

I lost my passion for it for a second. I kind of fell out of love with it, and it was kind of making me miserable at one point. I feel like the company I was in, I loved being in AEW. I had so much fun. But, the character I was doing, I wasn’t too happy with, and I wish I could have done certain matches and certain things, and it didn’t come to be, and it’s fine … I just kind of fell out of love with it, and so now, I’m just like, ‘I need to start training again. I need to get my ass back into shape. I need to be the Paige that I was in NXT, but better.– Saraya

Saraya joined AEW in September 2022 and, after a 5+ year in-ring absence due to a neck injury, she defeated Britt Baker in her first match back. From there, he formed The Outcasts faction and won the AEW Women’s World Championship in a four-way at All In 2023 in London against Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, and Toni Storm. However, despite signing a new contract, both AEW and she agreed to end her new deal early so she could focus on other projects.
