Shayna Baszler Confirms Her WWE Employment Status

WWE released Shayna Baszler in May 2025, leading many to think it would only be a matter of time before she wrestled for AEW or TNA. However, instead, it was reported she has been coaching and helping produce matches for NXT, suggesting her future is behind the curtain. And now, speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, she confirmed she’s not officially signed with WWE but is open to the possibility, saying, “I don’t hate it, I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would.

“I’m not officially hired, but I have a good relationship with them. I’m officially guest coaching when the opportunity comes. I don’t hate it, I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would.”Shayna Baszler

45-year-old Baszler, a former MMA fighter who transitioned to wrestling in 2015, signed with WWE in 2017 after indie success and a run in the Mae Young Classic. In NXT, she became a two-time Women’s Champion and looked set to be pushed as a huge deal on the main roster. Yet, after an initial push, management seemingly didn’t see her in a top spot, and instead positioned her as a tag team star, winning three WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, twice with Nia Jax and once with her real-life friend Ronda Rousey.
