Velvet Sky is beloved by TNA fans, having spent the majority of her in-ring career with the company. However, she has now revealed on X that she came close to signing with WWE after meeting with John Laurinaitis. However, the deal fell through due to Laurinaitis, who wrestled himself as Johnny Ace, not wanting “his divas dating within the company.”
This was an issue as Sky was dating Bully Ray at the time and didn’t want to break up with him. Seemingly, this puts the timeframe between 2015 and 2018 when the ECW original was working for WWE as part of the Dudley Boyz.
44-year-old Sky, real name Jamie Szantyr, broke into the business via the independent circuit as Talia Madison before joining TNA, where she co-founded the iconic heel stable The Beautiful People with Angelina Love and Madison Rayne. From there, she captured the TNA Women’s Knockout Championship twice and the Knockouts Tag Team Championship once under the Freebird rule, and was ultimately inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2025 alongside Love.
